The railway authorities announced that the mega block was necessary to carry out essential engineering and repair work. These works included track maintenance, signal upgrades, and infrastructure improvements aimed at ensuring safer and more reliable train operations in the long run. While such blocks are a regular part of railway operations, their impact on passengers is often immediate and widespread.

The challenge lies in achieving this without placing too heavy a burden on the millions who depend on it every single day.
