In a move that signals deeper integration within Europe’s aviation sector, ITA Airways is set to join the Lufthansa Group’s flagship frequent flyer program, Miles & More. The development marks a significant milestone in the Italian carrier’s transformation, as it moves closer to becoming a fully integrated part of one of the world’s largest airline networks.

ITA Airways’ existing loyalty program, Volare, has been gradually aligned with Lufthansa’s ecosystem over the past year. The transition to Miles & More represents a decisive step forward, allowing passengers to access a broader network of benefits, rewards, and partner airlines. Frequent flyers will now be able to earn and redeem miles across Lufthansa Group carriers, unlocking a more seamless and rewarding travel experience.

With this integration, passengers flying ITA Airways gain access to an extensive loyalty network that includes major European carriers. The Miles & More program offers a unified system where travelers can accumulate miles, achieve elite status, and enjoy perks such as lounge access, priority services, and upgrades. This shift not only improves customer experience but also strengthens brand loyalty across the group.

The inclusion of ITA Airways into Miles & More is part of a broader strategy by Lufthansa Group to consolidate its position in the European aviation market. Since acquiring a stake in the Italian airline, Lufthansa has been steadily aligning operations, routes, and customer offerings. Loyalty integration plays a crucial role in this process, acting as a bridge that connects passengers across multiple airlines under one unified ecosystem.

The loyalty program shift also aligns with ITA Airways’ broader transition toward the Star Alliance network. As the airline distances itself from previous alliances, adopting Miles & More strengthens its compatibility with Lufthansa’s global partnerships. This move ensures that passengers benefit from smoother connections, shared services, and consistent loyalty rewards across international routes.

For travelers, the integration signals greater convenience and more value from every journey. For the industry, it highlights a growing trend of consolidation and collaboration among major carriers. Airlines are no longer competing solely on routes or pricing, they are building ecosystems that retain customers through long-term loyalty benefits.

As ITA Airways takes this decisive step, it reflects a broader transformation in aviation, one where partnerships, seamless experiences, and unified loyalty systems are redefining how airlines connect with their passengers.
