Envision Energy India Launches 2 GW Blade Plant in Gujarat

Post by : Meena Rani

Envision Energy India has officially commenced construction of its 2 GW per annum blade manufacturing facility in Kalyangadh, Bavla Taluka, Ahmedabad District, Gujarat. This new facility, part of a Rs 500 crore expansion, marks the company’s third manufacturing site in India and is projected to produce up to 1,500 wind turbine blades annually.

The ground-breaking ceremony signifies a major step in strengthening India’s domestic renewable energy manufacturing capabilities, aligning with the government’s Make-in-India initiative and the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s (MNRE) goal of expanding local renewable energy production.

Commitment to Atmanirbhar Bharat and Clean Energy

RPV Prasad, Managing Director of Envision Energy India, highlighted the broader significance of the facility:

“This new facility in Gujarat is not just an investment in infrastructure, but an investment in India’s clean energy future. It reflects our commitment to supporting the Prime Minister’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat by strengthening domestic manufacturing, creating local employment, and fostering industrial growth in the region.”

The project underscores Envision Energy India’s long-term strategy to localize manufacturing, reduce dependence on imports, and build a self-sustaining clean energy ecosystem in India.

Enhancing Renewable Energy Capacity in Gujarat

The plant will focus on producing blades for 3.3 MW and 5 MW wind turbines, supporting over 4 GW of wind energy projects across five districts in Gujarat. Once operational, it is expected to significantly contribute to increasing the state’s renewable energy capacity and supporting India’s national target of achieving 50% non-fossil power capacity by 2030.

By producing critical wind turbine components domestically, the facility will help streamline project timelines, reduce import costs, and promote technological advancements in India’s wind energy sector.

Economic and Employment Impact

The construction and operation of the facility are expected to generate around 4,000 direct and indirect jobs by mid-2027. The plant will integrate with local suppliers, fostering growth within the regional industrial ecosystem and enhancing skill development opportunities for the local workforce.

Devusinh Jesingbhai Chauhan, Member of Parliament, emphasized the importance of employment and skill-building:

“Employment generation and skill development are critical, and I urge our youth to make themselves employment worthy, as India builds a sustainable future. With its commitment to clean energy and innovation, Envision represents the kind of vision that will help India become a developed nation by 2047.”

Strategic Significance

Gujarat, a key hub for renewable energy projects, is poised to benefit from the additional manufacturing capacity. The facility not only strengthens domestic supply chains for wind energy but also reinforces India’s position in the global renewable energy market.

Envision Energy India’s expansion is expected to support technological innovation, optimize supply chain efficiency, and boost local industrial infrastructure. By producing critical wind energy components locally, the company aims to reduce dependency on international imports and contribute to India’s energy security goals.

Supporting India’s Renewable Energy Goals

India’s renewable energy sector has witnessed rapid growth, with the government targeting 500 GW of non-fossil power capacity by 2030. The addition of Envision Energy India’s 2 GW blade facility aligns with national priorities for clean energy, domestic manufacturing, and sustainable industrial development.

The plant is also expected to catalyze investment in related sectors, from raw material supply to logistics, and promote technological expertise in wind turbine manufacturing. This aligns with India’s broader objective of creating a skilled workforce and supporting innovation in renewable energy technologies.

Envision Energy India’s 2 GW blade manufacturing facility in Gujarat represents a strategic investment in India’s clean energy future. With a focus on domestic production, employment generation, and regional industrial growth, the project is set to strengthen India’s renewable energy ecosystem, reduce reliance on imports, and accelerate progress toward national energy targets.
