Dutch semiconductor equipment maker ASML has raised its 2026 revenue forecast and announced plans to significantly expand production capacity, aiming to meet the rapidly growing global demand for advanced AI chip manufacturing equipment.
The company now expects 2026 net revenue of €43 billion to €45 billion, up from its earlier forecast of €36 billion to €40 billion. The upgraded outlook follows stronger-than-expected second-quarter financial results and increasing orders from leading semiconductor manufacturers.
ASML reported second-quarter revenue of €9.33 billion, exceeding market expectations of €8.80 billion, while net profit reached €2.92 billion, also above analyst estimates.
Capacity Expansion to Ease AI Chip Bottlenecks
ASML announced that it will increase manufacturing capacity by 30% in both 2027 and 2028 to address what it described as extremely strong customer demand for its advanced lithography systems.
Chief Executive Officer Christophe Fouquet said customers continue to accelerate investments in semiconductor production, giving the company greater confidence in long-term demand.
Industry analysts believe the expansion could reduce concerns that shortages of ASML's chipmaking equipment might slow global AI infrastructure growth.
ASML Plays Critical Role in AI Semiconductor Industry
ASML is the world's only manufacturer of Extreme Ultraviolet (EUV) lithography machines, which are essential for producing the world's most advanced semiconductor chips.
These systems are widely used to manufacture processors powering artificial intelligence applications, cloud computing, high-performance data centres and advanced smartphones.
The company's equipment is used by leading semiconductor manufacturers including TSMC, Samsung, SK Hynix, Micron, and other major chip producers serving technology companies worldwide.
Intel to Use ASML's High-NA Technology
ASML also confirmed that Intel will use its next-generation High-NA EUV lithography system to manufacture selected Panther Lake processors.
The announcement marks one of the first commercial deployments of High-NA technology, which is designed to produce even smaller and more powerful semiconductor chips.
The company said nearly all of its planned EUV manufacturing capacity through 2027 has already been reserved by customers.

China Remains Important Market
Despite ongoing US-led export restrictions, ASML said demand from Chinese customers remains strong.
The company expects China to account for approximately 20% of total sales this year.
Although ASML is prohibited from exporting its most advanced EUV systems to China, it continues supplying certain Deep Ultraviolet (DUV) lithography machines used to manufacture a wide range of semiconductor products for domestic industries.
Executives acknowledged that potential future US export controls remain an important business risk.
Positive Outlook for Semiconductor Industry
Analysts said ASML's improved guidance reflects continued confidence in long-term semiconductor demand driven by artificial intelligence, cloud computing and expanding data centre infrastructure.
The company's capacity expansion is expected to strengthen global semiconductor supply chains and support manufacturers as investment in AI technologies continues to accelerate worldwide.
