easyJet France Cabin Crew Unions File Strike Notice Over Working Conditions

Post by : Saif

Cabin crew unions representing easyJet France have filed a strike notice that could lead to industrial action between August 7 and September 2, citing worsening working conditions and ongoing concerns over scheduling practices.

The unions said they remain open to negotiations and could withdraw the strike notice if management responds positively to their demands.

Why Are easyJet Cabin Crew Planning to Strike?

According to the unions, cabin crew have experienced a steady decline in working conditions over the past year. The key concerns include:

  • Chronic schedule instability.
  • Frequent last-minute roster changes.
  • Imposed trip patterns.
  • Demanding flight rotations.
  • Lack of adequate protective measures for employees.

Union representatives said they have repeatedly raised these issues with management but believe sufficient improvements have not been made.

Strike Could Affect Flights

The strike notice covers the period from August 7 to September 2, meaning industrial action could occur at any point during those dates.

However, under French labor regulations, unions are required to provide 48 hours' notice before any specific strike action begins.

As a result, flights may continue to operate normally unless individual strike dates are officially announced.

easyJet Responds

easyJet expressed disappointment over the planned industrial action, saying it had already proposed adjustments aimed at addressing employee concerns.

The airline also noted that formal negotiations are scheduled for September and urged unions to cancel the strike notice, particularly during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.

The company said it remains committed to continuing discussions with employee representatives.

Previous Labor Action Delayed

The unions said an earlier labor dispute had been suspended due to the severe wildfires in France's Gironde region, but unresolved workplace concerns have now led to the new strike notice.

Travelers with upcoming flights are advised to monitor updates from easyJet and check their flight status regularly if industrial action is confirmed.
