Biman Bangladesh Airlines has confirmed an order for 10 Airbus aircraft as the national carrier of Bangladesh moves ahead with plans to expand and modernize its fleet.
Airbus said on Wednesday that the order includes four long-haul A350-900 aircraft and six medium-haul A321neo jets. The deal comes shortly after Biman ordered 11 aircraft from Boeing, giving the airline a major boost in its fleet expansion plans.
Four Airbus A350-900 aircraft are included in the latest order. The wide-body aircraft is designed for long-distance international routes and can support Biman's plans to expand its global network.
The A350 family is known for its long-range capabilities and fuel efficiency, making it suitable for airlines looking to operate international routes more efficiently.
The new aircraft could help Biman increase capacity on existing long-haul services while also creating opportunities to consider additional international destinations.
The agreement also covers six A321neo aircraft designed for medium-haul operations.
The A321neo is part of Airbus' popular A320neo family and is used by airlines on domestic, regional and international routes. Its range and capacity make it suitable for markets where airlines need additional passenger seats without operating larger wide-body aircraft.
Adding the A321neo could give Biman greater flexibility as it develops its regional network.

The Airbus order follows Biman's recent purchase of 11 Boeing aircraft, highlighting the airline's wider fleet expansion strategy.
The combination of Airbus and Boeing aircraft will give Biman access to new-generation planes across different route types, from regional services to long-distance international flights.
Fleet modernization is important for airlines seeking to improve operational efficiency, increase passenger capacity and strengthen their international networks.
The 10-aircraft Airbus deal represents a significant step in Biman Bangladesh Airlines' fleet development plans.
The addition of A350-900 and A321neo aircraft could allow the airline to increase capacity, improve efficiency and support the growth of international services.
The order also strengthens Airbus' presence in Bangladesh's aviation market as Biman prepares for the next phase of its fleet modernization.
