AB Infrabuild Wins ₹42.68 Cr Rail Bridge Project

Post by : Avinab Raana

India’s railway infrastructure continues to gain momentum as AB Infrabuild Limited secures a significant ₹42.68 crore road over bridge (ROB) project from East Coast Railways. The project, located under the Khurda Road Division, is designed to replace an existing level crossing, marking a crucial step toward improving both rail safety and road traffic efficiency. As India accelerates infrastructure modernization, such developments highlight the growing focus on eliminating bottlenecks and enhancing multimodal connectivity across the country.

The awarded contract involves the construction of a multi-span road over bridge between Baruva and Mandasa stations on a key railway corridor. The structure will include a combination of composite girders and T-beam girders, designed to ensure durability, load efficiency, and long-term operational reliability. The bridge will effectively replace a level crossing, which is often considered a high-risk point for accidents due to the intersection of rail and road traffic. By elevating road movement above railway tracks, the project will significantly reduce collision risks and improve traffic flow.

AB Infrabuild has committed to completing the project within a 24-month timeframe, reflecting both the scale and complexity of the construction work involved. The timeline aligns with broader railway infrastructure targets, where timely execution is critical to unlocking economic benefits and improving logistics efficiency. With multiple spans and structural components involved, the project will require precise engineering coordination, resource management, and adherence to strict safety standards.

The significance of this project extends beyond safety improvements. Road over bridges play a critical role in decongesting rail corridors and ensuring uninterrupted movement of both trains and vehicles. As freight and passenger traffic continue to rise across Indian Railways, eliminating level crossings becomes essential for maintaining operational efficiency. This project contributes directly to that goal, enabling faster train movement while reducing delays caused by road-rail intersections.

For AB Infrabuild, this contract adds substantial value to its growing order book, reinforcing its position in the railway infrastructure segment. The company has consistently secured similar projects from Indian Railways, demonstrating its capability in executing complex engineering works. Such contracts not only provide revenue visibility over the medium term but also enhance the company’s credibility in bidding for larger infrastructure projects across the country.

The project aligns with the government’s broader push toward infrastructure-led growth, particularly under initiatives aimed at improving railway safety and connectivity. By replacing level crossings with grade-separated structures like ROBs, Indian Railways is working toward reducing accident risks and enhancing network efficiency. This approach is also closely tied to national logistics goals, where seamless connectivity between road and rail plays a vital role in reducing transportation costs and improving supply chain performance.

The ₹42.68 crore road over bridge project is more than just a construction contract. It is a critical piece in the larger puzzle of India’s transportation transformation. As the country continues to invest heavily in rail infrastructure, projects like these will define how efficiently people and goods move across regions. With safety, speed, and connectivity at the forefront, the future of India’s rail network is being built one bridge at a time stronger, smarter, and ready to meet the demands of a rapidly growing economy.
