Vietnam’s Sun PhuQuoc Airways Orders 40 Boeing Dreamliners in $22.5 Billion Deal

Vietnam’s Sun PhuQuoc Airways Orders 40 Boeing Dreamliners in $22.5 Billion Deal

Post by : Saif

Vietnam’s Sun PhuQuoc Airways has signed a major $22.5 billion deal with Boeing to purchase 40 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, marking one of the largest aviation deals in Southeast Asia.

The airline said the new planes will allow it to expand its services internationally, including future flights between Vietnam and the United States. This move signals Sun PhuQuoc Airways’ ambition to compete in the growing global aviation market.

The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner is a long-range, fuel-efficient aircraft that can carry around 280 to 300 passengers. Its advanced technology reduces fuel consumption and noise, making it suitable for long-haul routes over oceans. For Sun PhuQuoc Airways, these jets will help connect Vietnam with major international cities and strengthen tourism and business travel links.

The announcement came at a time when Vietnam’s aviation sector is expanding rapidly. Domestic travel has recovered strongly after pandemic-related slowdowns, and demand for international flights is increasing. Analysts say the deal is a strategic investment that positions the airline for future growth in intercontinental routes.

Boeing also benefits from the contract, as the deal adds to its ongoing 787 Dreamliner production schedule. The Dreamliner is one of Boeing’s most successful models, known for passenger comfort, efficiency, and long-range capabilities.

Sun PhuQuoc Airways was founded recently and operates a growing network of domestic and regional routes. The airline’s management said the new order is part of a broader plan to modernize its fleet, expand international services, and boost its presence in the competitive aviation market.

Industry experts note that such large aircraft orders usually indicate confidence in future passenger demand and economic growth. Vietnam, with its rising middle class and expanding tourism industry, is becoming an attractive market for airlines investing in long-haul international flights.

The delivery of the Dreamliner jets will take place over several years, giving Sun PhuQuoc Airways time to prepare for new intercontinental operations. The airline aims to strengthen Vietnam’s position in the global aviation market and provide more travel options for both business and leisure passengers.

This deal reflects a broader trend of airlines investing in modern, fuel-efficient aircraft to meet rising passenger demand while reducing operational costs and environmental impact. For Sun PhuQuoc Airways, the $22.5 billion agreement with Boeing represents a significant step toward becoming a major player on the international stage.
