Philippines has expressed concern over deaths, injuries and destruction caused by an airstrike in Myanmar's Rakhine State. Manila said it was ready to help facilitate discussions within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) on possible assistance for Myanmar.
The statement comes as violence continues in Myanmar, where fighting between the military and armed groups has caused widespread displacement and a severe humanitarian crisis.
The Philippines, which currently chairs ASEAN, said it was concerned about the reported impact of the airstrike in Rakhine State.
Manila said it was prepared to facilitate discussions among ASEAN members on how the regional bloc could respond and provide assistance.
ASEAN has repeatedly called for an end to violence in Myanmar and urged all sides to pursue dialogue as a way to address the country's political and humanitarian crisis.
The reported airstrike took place in Kyauktaw in Rakhine State, an area controlled by the Arakan Army, according to local sources.
Reports said the attack caused deaths and injuries and damaged property. A rebel group controlling the area and a local aid worker attributed the attack to Myanmar's military.
The reported death toll from the strike had risen to around 50 by September 29, according to earlier reporting.
The situation is difficult to independently verify because access to several conflict areas in Myanmar remains restricted.

Myanmar has been affected by armed conflict since the military seized power in February 2021.
Fighting has spread across several parts of the country, involving the military, ethnic armed organisations and other armed groups. Rakhine State has become one of the major areas of conflict.
The Arakan Army has expanded its control across large parts of Rakhine, increasing pressure on the military and creating new challenges for civilians.
Airstrikes have been repeatedly reported during the conflict, raising concerns about civilian safety and access to humanitarian assistance.
ASEAN has struggled to make progress on its efforts to address the crisis in Myanmar.
The regional bloc agreed on a five-point peace plan in 2021 that called for an immediate end to violence, dialogue among the parties involved and the appointment of an ASEAN special envoy.
Progress has remained limited as fighting has continued.
As ASEAN chair, the Philippines has a role in coordinating discussions among member states and maintaining regional efforts to address the crisis.
Continued fighting has forced large numbers of people to leave their homes and has disrupted access to food, healthcare and other basic services.
Airstrikes and ground fighting have also damaged civilian infrastructure in conflict-affected areas.
The Philippines' offer to facilitate discussions reflects the wider regional concern about the continuing violence and its effect on civilians.
For ASEAN, the challenge is to find a way to encourage dialogue while helping deliver humanitarian assistance to communities affected by the conflict. The latest airstrike reports are likely to add pressure for renewed regional discussions on Myanmar's worsening security and humanitarian situation.
