German luxury carmaker Audi will work closely with parent company Volkswagen Group on a comprehensive restructuring plan after reporting weaker second-quarter financial results driven by declining vehicle sales in China and the United States.
Audi Chief Financial Officer Juergen Rittersberger said growing global challenges require major structural changes to keep the company competitive in the international automotive market.
Audi reported that its second-quarter revenue fell 12.5% year-on-year to €15.0 billion, while operating profit declined 3% to €533 million.
The company's operating profit margin stood at 3.6%, significantly below its revised annual target range of 5% to 7%.
The weaker performance reflects slowing demand in key global markets, particularly China and the United States.
According to Audi's finance chief, the company will work with Volkswagen to redesign its business model and introduce large-scale structural improvements.

Audi's Neckarsulm manufacturing plant in southwestern Germany remains one of the Volkswagen Group facilities that could face closure after 2030 as part of broader restructuring efforts.
The plant currently operates below previous production levels, with annual capacity reduced to around 225,000 vehicles.
Audi has also agreed to eliminate the night production shift at the facility, which currently manufactures combustion-engine vehicles.
