Paris, June 2025 — Against the backdrop of the aviation industry's renewed momentum, the 2025 Paris Air Show proved to be a hotbed of innovation and strategic evolution for the Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) sector. As airlines push for more efficient fleets and sustainable operations, leading MRO providers and OEMs used the show to spotlight next-gen capabilities, digital transformation tools, and sustainability-driven solutions.
Here’s a roundup of the most significant MRO-related developments and announcements that emerged from Le Bourget:
Lufthansa Technik announced its plan to expand engine MRO capacity in Hamburg, adding infrastructure to support LEAP and GTF engine families. The move addresses growing demand for narrowbody engine overhauls as fleet utilization rebounds globally. The company also teased new AI-driven inspection systems to shorten turnaround times.
StandardAero renewed its partnership with Honeywell Aerospace, expanding its support agreement to include HTF7000 and TFE731 engine series. This deepens their presence in the business jet and regional jet MRO markets and aligns with rising demand for business aviation services across North America and Europe.
Safran Aircraft Engines highlighted its eco-conscious approach to engine maintenance, including low-emissions cleaning processes, recyclable materials, and data-optimized shop visit planning. Their goal: cut carbon footprints while improving turnaround efficiency for CFM56 and LEAP engines.
A cross-section of MRO tech vendors showcased predictive maintenance tools, many powered by AI and machine learning. These systems promise real-time diagnostics, automated fault detection, and optimized parts provisioning. Companies like SR Technics, GE Aerospace, and Rolls-Royce demonstrated dashboards that could soon become the digital command centers for fleet health monitoring.
AAR Corp. and Korean Air extended their component support agreement, emphasizing Boeing 777 and 787 parts. This move strengthens trans-Pacific cooperation in MRO and builds inventory resilience amid global supply chain challenges.
Airbus introduced VR-powered MRO training modules for the A320 and A350 families. Trainees can now simulate component replacements and troubleshooting scenarios in an immersive digital environment—reducing the need for physical aircraft time and accelerating certification processes.
Turkish Technic announced its intent to open a new MRO facility in Central Asia, targeting demand from CIS carriers. The expansion aligns with Turkish Airlines’ broader regional strategy and strengthens Turkey’s positioning as an emerging MRO hub.
