Indiesemic Launches India’s First IoT Evolution Board at Semicon 2025

Post by : Armust Desk

Indiesemic, a startup based in Gujarat, has taken a major step in India’s technological journey by launching the country’s first IoT Evolution Board. The unveiling took place at the prestigious Semicon India 2025 event held in New Delhi. The launch reflects India’s increasing focus on indigenous technology, innovation, and building a self-reliant electronics and semiconductor ecosystem.

The launch ceremony was attended by key dignitaries, including Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Union Minister for Railways, Communications, and Electronics & Information Technology. This event marks a significant milestone for India as it moves towards developing its own high-quality IoT hardware and solutions, reducing dependence on imported technologies, and strengthening national security in the digital space.

Collaboration with C-DAC

The IoT Evolution Board is the result of a close collaboration between Indiesemic and the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing, commonly known as C-DAC. The board integrates C-DAC’s VEGA processor, which is an indigenous, high-performance chip designed for secure and efficient processing. Alongside the VEGA processor, Indiesemic has developed wireless connectivity modules that include Bluetooth and LoRa technology.

This combination provides a powerful platform for developers, engineers, and startups to create IoT solutions with both speed and reliability. By using an Indian-made processor and modules, the board ensures greater data security and independence from foreign hardware, which is crucial for sensitive applications such as defense, industrial automation, and healthcare.

Features and Applications of the Board

The IoT Evolution Board is designed to simplify and accelerate the process of prototyping and developing IoT applications. It offers a flexible environment for testing and deploying connected devices across multiple sectors. Some key areas where the board can be used include:

  • Smart Cities: For intelligent street lighting, traffic management, and efficient public service systems.

  • Industrial Automation: To optimize factory processes, monitor machinery, and enhance safety.

  • Healthcare: For remote monitoring, wearable devices, and telemedicine solutions.

  • Defense and Aerospace: For secure communication, surveillance, and mission-critical operations.

By offering a local and reliable solution, the board reduces reliance on imported hardware, which not only saves costs but also enhances security and reliability. The board empowers startups and businesses to innovate without worrying about supply chain limitations or dependency on foreign technology.

Supporting India’s Self-Reliance

Indiesemic’s IoT Evolution Board aligns perfectly with India’s vision of 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' or a self-reliant India. The government has been promoting the 'Make in India' initiative to encourage domestic manufacturing, innovation, and technology development. The launch of this board demonstrates how Indian startups and research institutions are stepping up to provide world-class solutions.

By creating a fully indigenous IoT platform, Indiesemic contributes to building a stronger technology ecosystem in India. It also inspires young engineers and innovators to explore opportunities in the semiconductor and IoT space, knowing that they have access to homegrown solutions for their projects.

The Future of Indiesemic

Indiesemic is not stopping with this launch. The company has ambitious plans to expand its product range to include AI-at-the-edge computing solutions and advanced System on Chips (SoCs) based on the RISC-V architecture. These developments aim to support industries with advanced computing requirements and further strengthen India’s position in global technology markets.

The company’s roadmap also focuses on catering to growing sectors such as industrial automation, healthcare technology, smart infrastructure, and defense applications. With such initiatives, Indiesemic is poised to play a key role in India’s journey towards technological self-sufficiency and global recognition in the semiconductor and IoT sectors.
