Ester Loop Infinite Technologies Pvt Ltd (ELITe), a joint venture between Ester Industries Ltd and Loop Industries, has taken a major step towards sustainable manufacturing in India by acquiring land near Surat, Gujarat. The company plans to set up India’s first Infinite Loop™ manufacturing facility, which will recycle polyester textile waste into high-quality PET resin. The total investment for the project is around Rs. 1,600 crores. This innovative facility aims to cut carbon emissions by up to 80 per cent, supporting India’s shift towards a cleaner and more sustainable economy.
A Step Towards Circular Economy
This new facility will focus on converting polyester waste into virgin-quality PET resin, which can then be used to make textiles and packaging materials. By doing this, ELITe is actively promoting a circular economy in India. Instead of relying solely on new plastics, the company is creating a system where waste is reused efficiently.
The facility’s initial production capacity is 70,000 metric tonnes per year, with plans to expand by another 100,000 tonnes in the future. This will not only reduce waste but also supply high-quality PET resin to the textile and packaging industries across the country and abroad.
Strategic Location in Gujarat
The land acquired for the project is in the Petroleum, Chemicals and Petrochemicals Investment Region (PCPIR) near Surat. This location is strategically chosen for several reasons:
It provides easy access to polyester textile waste, which is the main raw material for the plant.
A skilled workforce is available in the region to support operations.
The area allows simplified approvals and faster project implementation.
Its proximity to a deep-water seaport will help in cost-efficient exports of the recycled PET resin.
Moreover, the facility is designed to run on around 80 per cent renewable electricity and biofuel, which will further reduce the environmental impact of PET production.
Industry Leaders on the Development
Arvind Singhania, Chairman of Ester Industries Ltd, expressed his enthusiasm about the project, saying, “This is a significant step forward in implementing our plans for sustainable manufacturing and circular economy solutions in India. Gujarat, being the hub of India’s polyester textile industry, provides the ideal ecosystem for our first Infinite Loop™ facility. This project will help reduce carbon emissions, lower reliance on virgin plastics, and create a sustainable value chain for textiles and packaging sectors. We are proud to lead the way in India’s clean technology transition.”
Environmental and Economic Impact
The Infinite Loop™ facility is expected to bring major environmental benefits by reducing plastic waste and carbon footprint significantly. It will also contribute to economic growth by creating jobs, promoting clean technology, and encouraging investment in sustainable manufacturing practices.
By transforming polyester waste into high-quality PET resin, ELITe is setting an example for responsible manufacturing. The project aligns with global trends in sustainability and green production while meeting India’s growing demand for recycled materials.
This land acquisition marks the beginning of construction for India’s first Infinite Loop™ plant. Once completed, it will serve as a model for sustainable manufacturing in India and pave the way for additional facilities in other regions.
By establishing this plant, ELITe is not just recycling polyester waste but also contributing to India’s larger vision of a sustainable and circular economy, where resources are reused efficiently, emissions are minimized, and industries operate in harmony with the environment.
