Explosion at Jakarta Mosque Injures 54 Worshippers During Friday Prayers

Post by : Sameer Saifi

An explosion occurred on Friday during prayer time at a mosque inside a school complex in Jakarta, Indonesia. The incident took place in the Kelapa Gading area of North Jakarta. Many people had gathered for the afternoon Friday prayers when the blast happened suddenly. According to police, 54 people were injured and taken to different hospitals for treatment. Some injuries were light, while others included serious burns.

City police chief Asep Edi Suheri spoke at a press conference and said that the cause of the explosion is still not known. The police are investigating the situation carefully. They are collecting evidence from the site to understand what led to the blast. For now, officials have not said whether the explosion happened because of an accident or something planned. People have been asked not to spread rumors until the investigation is complete.

Television news channels showed video footage of the scene. Police and military officers were guarding the area. Ambulances were waiting nearby in case more help was needed. The mosque building did not show major damage from the outside, but those inside were harmed because the blast happened when many people were close together during prayer.

The incident has caused fear and sadness among the community. Friday prayer is a peaceful time when families and neighbors gather to worship together, and such an event has left many people shaken. Parents rushed to the school complex after hearing the news, worried about their children and other family members.

Hospitals treating the injured have been working quickly. Some medical teams have requested blood donations to help the patients. Community members and religious leaders are asking people to stay calm and support each other in this difficult moment. Many people across Indonesia are expressing prayers and sympathy for the injured and their families.

Authorities have promised to share more information once they have clear results from the investigation. For now, people are waiting for answers and hoping for the fast recovery of those who were hurt.
